*Cough*

Edit: Since im posting, might as well answer. I do not intend to remove this, and i am rather firm on my stand on this. I can however, if you want, up the limit for when the save limit is disabled, eg 40-50min.

it gives you a warning 20 min ahead of time, although atm its bugged and it loops, but it still doesnt change the fact that it gives you a warning.

As I was writing in the Next Version post and as a lot of people playing the map, I really don't like the feature but I'm sure you can change it so that it doesn't have so much of an impact on the players, say the casual players...

Taking in account the fact that the drop rates are really low combined with the respawn rate of bosses, it takes about 17.5hours (pure boss killing/camping respawn) to reach a drop chance of around 0.5, it would take many games online to reach a level where you can finally think about finding a group to go and fight the last boss.

One thing you could do instead of ending the game after there's only one player left is remove the bosses you do not want to see get farmed and/or special shops. That's one suggestion but I'm quite sure you'll be able to find other ways to surprise us, in a good way.

Thanks

Well When all is said and done I will not be playing this map as often as I did. Since this new feature have been added I have played about 3 times. Getting items is not easy and so you have no choice but to play for hours. Good luck getting the items that you want, and not all of us have 2 computers or can host for that matter.

@DC how about 2 hours instead and that would give you a decent period of gameplay. Like you said the warning system is currently bugged but will this be resolved in the new version?
This is the first ORPG that disables save!

No, that's not true. Other RPGs have done it, but they failed because bots would always mess them up. This is the first RPG in succeeding to disable save even on a bot.

Like I said in another thread...there is nothing stopping you from learning how to host. It will be better for everyone and BNet in general if a lot more people learned how to host. Use an internet search engine to figure out how to forward ports and host for Warcraft 3. Reference: http://www.pomfoc.ucoz.com/forum/9-575-1

Always people here who don't have access/control over port forwarding though =/. Really wish I could, I swear I could run this network better then these clowns.

disclaimer: no I probably actually couldn't

Well it's currently not working and looping (just like dropping a player in a game hosted by a bot when the player is still loading) and DC said it'll be working on next version so we'll see about that.

Hosting is very simple, I can do that and it doesn't take years to learn hosting yet hosting isn't the only problem with BNET, server splits for example are a problem that a player does not have control over compared to the ability of hosting. In the same branch you have ISP internet speed variations (can cause players to lag out), Bnet disconnect: causing loss of players most of the time when done in game, ect... (if you can find any other).

All these currently affect the save/load disabling system in the end and bring you closer to activate it, many reasons to change such a system for another one, more oriented for casual players (ie: someone that doesn't have 100s of hours of gameplay available before the next code wipe).

Well, the actual disabling save works just fine, if you wait out the twenty minutes you can't actually save. The only thing that is looping is the message. The error that I see with it is every time it sends out the warning it will show the actual time left and it will send out the original message of twenty minutes.

I'd say try to keep it on an interval of boss respawns, 20 minutes is ok for one more/two more depending on the times before it happens to kill bosses. If you kick it up to 35 minutes it would be good for at least two boss runs, which would help for those occasions where you get in a game and everyone just leaves right away.

Ok, I'm closing this thread. Darkchaos has already made his decision. If he wants to reply after this, then fine. But I can already see this topic causing too much drama with continued conversation. Personally, I enjoy the save/load cancel feature. Makes getting the legendary items harder, and also, you know someone worked for it. Not jsut afked for 50billion hours to get the arc and plat for +5 wings. Also makes it impossible to camp boss spawns for hours at a time to get the leggy gear to drop. All in all, I like the feature. It makes players have to actually PLAY.
